Davido’s “A Better Time” Or Mayorkun’s “Back In Office” — Which Is A Better Album?

The DMW era of Mayorkun and Davido blessed us with some of the best music we’ve had in a long time.

If you consider how solid Mayorkun was in 2018, before and after the release of his debut album, “The Mayor of Lagos” and add that to Davido’s singles run before finally settling down and dropping his sophomore, “A Good Time,” in 2019.

A lot has happened since then; Davido has put out another album, same as Mayorkun, plus they seem to have gone their separate ways and Mayorkun is now independent.

This development, however, did not seem to have affected their last respective albums. In many ways, their albums have the same sound. Both guys have been for more than a couple of months now been trying to crack the amapiano sound. They have.

A Better Time” which had some of the early amapiano vibes we heard last year, seemed to have received a touch from Mayorkun. The Mayor’s touch on it is obvious, especially since he was on two songs out of the 17.

Back In Office” on the other hand, well, that’s all Mayorkun. Of course, he doesn’t need Davido to put together another version of “A Better Time.”

Some of the songs on “Back In Office” even sound like they could’ve been made for Davido’s last year album.

On the streets, people are saying “Back In Office” is weak, just like “A Better Time.” Apparently, their last projects is not their best yet. Still, I’m inclined to think that the two albums are still some of the best in recent times.

Comparing both of them, I wonder which one people think is the better album.

Let’s hear from you.
