Private individuals are now permitted to build, operate or maintain assets on some federal highways that are up for concession, the federal government has said. The arrangement is under the new highway development and management initiative (HDMI). The FG said the concession process will be classified into two categories — value-added concession and unbundled assets approvals.
The House of Representatives is considering a bill to amend the 1999 Constitution to allow states to determine their minimum wage. The bill sponsored by Garba Datti seeks to move the minimum wage from the exclusive legislative list to the concurrent list.
The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has declared an “immediate industrial action” in some states that have failed to pay the N30, 000 new national minimum wage. NLC lamented that about half the states in the country were yet to conclude negotiations on payment of the minimum wage.
